Wall Art Wednesday!!

Hey everyone!! Having a good week?? I sure am...sooo busy! Big deadline on Friday before the holiday weekend. My office is covered in Halloween goodness. I can't wait to show you what I have been working on! When the time is right...like closer to Halloween, lol :)

Today's post may be my favorite wall piece that I have featured so far! I love how I customized it to fit our family....Let me show you :)

This is an incredible {huge} peel and stick that features the entire world!

"Vintage World Map" is available at most Kohl's stores and retails for $39.99.

There are 3 sheets of peel and stick. I'm not gonna lie...when I opened it up I thought, "Wow. This is gonna take some time. Looks like a puzzle!" But I promise it is WAY easier than it looks! 

This handy little map shows you exactly where everything goes....so it ends up like this!

So cool and stunning! For sure a conversation piece :) But I wanted to make it a little more special for my boys. I put it up in one of our hallways down at their eye level....

Needed some adhesive cardstock and a little circle punch....

I added little circles to the places that my boys have been. Yes Texas, Oklahoma and Disneyland is it for these munchkins....Disney Cruise to Mexico is coming up tho :) My dad travels a ton for work internationally so we are going to add little yellow dots for the places that Papa visits. The heart is over Utah, where we live :)

So excited for this! The boys were so cute checking out "the world" :)

Once again, another slam dunk for DCWV Home! These designers amaze me and what they can come up with for my walls! Love it :)

It's Friday!!!

I hope y'all have some fun weekend plans! Our weekend will include a night camping in the mountains, hubby playing in a co-ed softball tournament and dinner with friends. Sounds perfect to me :) 

Yesterday I spent the day in the office which are days that I {love}! Saw the new stacks that will be available at Michael's in September. Got my hands on the Halloween and Fall lines that will be in Jo-Anns. (YES there is a 180 sheet stack, people have been asking!) And of course, the hustle and bustle of creations for our CHA booth next month. It is busy, busy in the office!!! EVERYTHING that I saw, I adored!!!! You know I always show you things as soon as I am given the go ahead :)

Do you know where this print belongs?? I heard at the office that in our DCWV history, we have designed over 90,000 prints which are in our archives! CRAZY!!!! So this print is 1/90,000 :) But I am confident that you can figure it out!!!

Morning my friends!!!

I hope everyone is enjoying their week!! We are halfway through the weekend!! Seems to be going fast for me this week...and tomorrow is my day at the office and I always look forward to those days :) Hope all of you are making this week great!!

Ok. Y'all know that I {love} classes! Teaching them and taking them! Teaching is my passion...but I also love sitting down to create a project and being inspired by someone else! Another reason why I love this hobby so much :) 

I just saw some pictures from a class that Michael's is offering right now at their stores and HAD to give you a little peaky peak ;) Because they are teaching with my current FAVORITE stack!!

This is a little taste of what you will create at your local Michael's Store at their current 

"Happy Birthday America Class"! 

The class creates decorations and table setting for your 4th of July party or BBQ! And guess what stack the class uses....everyone's favorite Nantucket Stack! I have seen all of the pictures from the class and trust me, you want to take it :)

Photoreal Seasons Stack Projects!

Hey guys!

Hope everyone is enjoying their week!! I have been working on a million little things that all add up to long days in my office! Funny how that works :) But I am loving what I am doing...as I always do :) But it is pretty weird to be working on so much HALLOWEEN in the middle of summer!! lol :) Fun!!

I wanted to share a couple of quick projects using our current "Photoreal Seasons Stack" that is at Michael's right now. 

I love to see complete projects using the photoreal papers because I think some people may look at them and wonder how to incorporate the papers into the project that they are working on. I love these two projects and wanted to share them! I think they capture the photo real look in a very cool way!

One is a recipe book and the other is a frame. I love how vibrant the colors are in this stack! Here are some step by step instructions. And as always, you can really use any kind of DCWV stack in creating your projects!

Autumn Recipe Book

SUPPLY LIST

• DCWV Phororeal Seasons Stack 
• Stand-up Photo album with rings 
• Assortment of brown ribbon in varying widths and lengths, including: •••”, 3/8” and 5/8”, with the longest piece at least 24” in length and the shortest 3 •••” in length. 
• Seasonal rub-on 
• Alphabet stickers 
• Paper crafting adhesive 
• Hole punch (slightly larger then rings) 
• Paper trimmer 
• Scissors 
• Pencil 
• Ruler 

PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS

1. Take out 2 coordinating prints. Set one aside. 

2. Separate photo album from rings. Set sheet protectors aside. 

3. Using the cover and back section of the photo album as a template, trace around both with your pencil so that you will have exactly enough to cover both pieces (will need 3 pieces total to cover the front and both sides of the back). Cut out. Cover the front side of the photo album cover as well as the front and back sides of the back cover. Punch holes in the appropriate places so that they will slide back onto rings. 

4. Adhere two pieces of coordinating brown ribbon directly to front, tucking excess around onto the back. Embellish the front with desired rub-ons and alphabet sticker sayings. 

5. While top section is off, measure, cut and attach amount needed to cover base of album stand. *Tip: If possible, remove section of rings that attaches to base for easier application. Finish off base by adhering thin ribbon around the outside edge. 

6. Put album parts back onto the rings. Tie a ribbon in a knot to the left ring. 

7. Finish off book by slipping your most delectable recipes into the different page protectors. 

Sunflower Frame & Quote 

SUPPLY LIST

• DCWV Phororeal Seasons Stack 
• 11 •••” square frame 
• 5/8” coordinating ribbon (need approximately 30” of ribbon) 
• Coordinating vellum quote 
• Papercrafting adhesive 
• Paper trimmer 
• Scissors 
• Craft knife 
• Pencil 
• Ruler 

PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS

1. Take out 2 sheets of the same print. Set one aside. 

2. Take out back of frame and lay this on the back side, center, of the first sheet. Trace around it with a pencil and cut out. Apply this directly to the inside back section of your frame. 

3. Cut your second sheet to the exact size as the frame. Use your remaining section (the edge of the page) and trace around the inside of the section onto the back of the 2nd sheet. Cut out this section and adhere this directly to the frame. 

4. Using your remaining paper scraps, cut out different petals from the flowers (at least 9). Use your pencil to create a curl in the flower. Adhere the inside point of each petal to the corresponding section of the flower. 

5. Add a vellum quote to the inside, on the right-hand side of the frame. 

6. Finish off frame by tying ribbon around frame.

LOVE how Susan Stringfellow created a layout based on the cover of the Nantucket Stack! So cleaver and adorable!! Love all of her work!

I was shocked when I figured out this layout from Sandra Rosario came from the "Hittin' the Books Stack" which is a school themed stack! Love the Disney freak idea :) And love how versatile our stacks are! Disney layout with a school stack? I think so :)

Darling birthday card from Corri Garza that was posted on our Facebook page...LOVE the colors and that cake on this card. I want to get this in the mail :)

Back on Wednesday!!!

4th of July Wreath

Hey everyone!

It's a rainy, dreary day here in Utah. I don't mind a rainy, summer day once in a while. The kind of day where you wake up, shower and put on clean jammies knowing you won't be leaving the house that day. Not that I did that this morning or anything... ;)

I have been busy working all morning on something for my front door that would scream SUMMER and 4th of July! I love how my project ended up, even though it was not my vision starting! I love it when that happens...when creativity completely takes over!

I used my favorite patriotic stack....The Nantucket Stack which is at Michael's stores right now!

And I surprised myself and used my new Sure Cuts A Lot program. Love how easy it is to cut ANY SVG file from my computer! Including fonts :) And I surprised myself and didn't even have to watch any of their how to videos, figured it all out by myself. Super easy!

Here is my wreath! The stars are 3D and really pop off of the wreath! I wrapped a foam wreath form with May Arts ribbon and added several paper stars. I sanded and inked the stars a little bit too.

The SVG files for the stars came from the kit Made in the USA. 

I love how the wreath turned out! I am loving my paper creations on my front door. It's the first thing people see when they come over and it's always a great conversation piece into my true passion for paper crafts and scrapbooking! I feel so lucky to do what I love every single day :)

Well now that I did some fun stuff today, it's time to be a grown up and clean up my office. I need a new organization system for sure. We'll see how far I get today :)

Wall Art Wednesday-Mirror Wall Embellishments

It's Wall Art Wednesday!!

I always love showing you the latest things from our DCWV Home department! They are always coming up with the coolest things to put on your walls...and trust me, my walls are covered with their stuff and I always get so many compliments!

Today, I wanted to show you some darling {Mirror Wall Embellishments}

They are mirror pieces in the shape of dragonflies! Available at ShopKo, Jo-Anns & Target. There are all kind of designs and the prices range from $12.99-$16.99.

They are so cool for your wall...but the small ones would be darling on a card!!!

I put a few around a mirror in our guest bathroom...I only used probably 1/3rd of the package! Love how just a few really stand out.

Father's Day Jar

Hey friends! 

I swear I say this all the time...but seriously? It's the middle of JUNE?! Why does time go so fast?!

I am in the middle of making Father's Day gifts for this Sunday! I can't believe Father's Day is already here...but we LOVE Father's Day :) BBQ's, being outside and showing Daddy how much we love him!

This year, we are keeping things simple! I saw a project similar to this on a blog but I did my own thing with it :) I knew that I wanted to use the Guy Stack which is still a staple for anything "Dad" in my craft room!

I bought a simple jar at Walmart for less than $5 and simply handcut pieces of paper and pieced them together. First the tie, then the two collar pieces and finally the collar strap that goes around the jar. Then I added a little patterned paper on the top.

The patterned paper that I used for the tie "screamed" Grandpa's tie to me :)

This was so easy! You could fill the jar with anything that you want!

I played with the Mademoiselle Stack this time which is available at Michael's stores...it is a total girly stack with great colors and awesome prints!!!

For my sketch, I wanted to use 4 horizontal photos instead of 2 vertical photos. So I did 4 photos at 2x3 so they would fit the 4x6 spots. I used some of my favorite photos of me and my best friend who just passed away, Amberly.
