I love this time of year.
Football. Fall decor. Rides in the canyon to see the leaves.
I picked the boys up from school and made the 10 minute drive to the top of the canyon that we live near. I love it when the leaves are green with a hint of orange...just like this...
Seriously, could these two get any cuter? I have the most darling boys on the planet!
I also love making anything for Halloween!! Why is Halloween such a fun holiday to craft for? I don't know if it's the colors or the spooky images, it's just plain fun!
I found this jar of candy at Walmart for $3. Figured I could "spice it up" a bit and give it to Troy's teacher for her desk....
I used the Midnight Spell Stack to cut papers and the "eek" banner...glued it to the front of the jar.
I love all of the glitter & epoxy finishes on our papers. These two are my favorites right now....
Why? Because I love Fall!!! Getting the hint? :)

ReplyDeleteFavorite Halloween tradition? Taking a cue from the Latino Day of the Dead, we set out photos of our loved ones that are no longer with us and take a few minutes to share happy stories about them. Also toast them with a good mini Snickers Bar!

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Halloween, always have, unfortunately it's taken some time for the UK to get anywhere near as good as the USA at celebrating it, but we're getting there. I love dressing up with my kids, carving out a pumpkin for the doorstep, getting spooky films to watch and handing out treats to all the little ones who dress up and dare to knock. Mwha ha ha ha!
ReplyDeleteWell, I have never been a fan of Halloween but I am really trying for my son. Last year we actually had a party at my house. First time I have decorated ever.

Our Halloween tradition is carving pumpkins . . . it's so much fun to take pictures of our creations after working so hard to make them. I then get the pictures scrapped for the kids' albums! The bonus is the seeds--my family cannot get enough of the delicious treats the seeds become after I cook them using a family recipe.

Our family Halloween tradition is the Mummer's Parade. Our town hosts a huge parade and throughout the parade are mummer's and they are judged and win prizes. The parade is about 3 hrs long and we usually pick someone's house to meet and eat before the parade and afterwards.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite halloween tradition is the "pillow case goody bags." When we were kids, we used pillow cases to do our trick or treating. Fast forward to my time as a mother...I didnt' want them taking my good pillow cases out! So I sewed up some "travel size" pillow cases that they use for their Trick Or Treating. We all win!

I love making my kids costumes! They are still young enough where they let me coordinate their costumes and I have a lot of fun doing that! Last year they were a ghost bride and groom, the year before they were a princess and the frog prince; before that they were Pebbles and BamBam; and the first year, my daughter was a devil and my son, who had luscious blonde curls, was an angel. Very cute and very fun!

ReplyDeleteWe have an annual costumes required Halloween party for our friends and their children. Halloween is our favorite holiday, so we go all out!
ReplyDeleteI haven't really started any new Halloween traditions with my husband, as we don't have children yet, and we sadly never get many trick or treaters. But, my favorite from growing up, was myself and a whole mess of my cousins dressing up and heading to our grandma's house, to go trick or treating in her little town.
ReplyDeleteCarving pumpkins and seeing what the popular costumes are when kids come to the door.
ReplyDeleteI guess my first post didn't go through so if you get a duplicate from me I am sorry.
ReplyDeleteMy BIL use to decorate his whole basement into a haunted house.
It started as you come down the stairs you had to go through this maze.
It had item that would pop out at you.
Witches stirring a cauldron with dry ice to make it look like it was boiling, windows that made it look like it was raining with lightning.
He was the best at doing up a good Halloween party.
We had partys there until our kids got to big and started going other places.

ReplyDeleteNow for our tradition. We have a big event for the kids at our church. We don't do the "Trick or Treat" thing but we rent out either a Chuck E Cheeses or a local bowling alley and have a party. At the end each child gets a huge bag of candy to take home. We have been doing this for a bunch of years ( more than 20) and the kids love it. Almost as much as I love DCWV papers.
ReplyDeleteOur Halloween tradition is going to the neighborhood costume party, then the kids all take a hay-ride through the whole neighborhood collecting candy! I love passing out the candy and seeing all the costumes! That picture of your boys is so beautiful!

ReplyDeleteOur favorite Halloween tradition...well when my teens were younger, it was always dress up,and head to the Grandparents for some treats.. But now they are 12 & 16 (grown in their minds)its a must to watch all the "Twitches" and the other "tween" Halloween shows while handing out candy to the little kids what come by,oh and its a must for us to have our apple cider and candy corn!!
Tradition.. I just love dressing my son up.. and then we would go to the fall festival and ride the hay truck... that was the most fun. We laughed and tried not to fall out! I love taking pictures of him.

Here is our Halloween Tradition. My husband Matt & I are celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary on Friday September 24th. We start the season out by going to Bush Gardens Howl-o-scream on Saturday, the 25th. Then, we decorate our yard as a haunted graveyard. Since our kids are grown and gone, we have started a tradition with our next door neighbors (they are our adopted children) the Davidsons. They are a young couple with three children ages 3-10. They go trick or treating with their kids, we sit outside our house with a big bonfire and hand out their candy with our candy, then when everyone is done trick or treating, we have a big dinner of Matt's homemade chili and we play games. Some years our own grown-up kids come for the fun too, sometimes they can't make it, but it is always great fun. Then on November 8-10th, Jen Davidson and I go away for a weekend Crop, this year we are going to a crop in Reading, PA with our group of ladies called "the Croppin Chicks" and we will sit and scrapbook all of those wonderful Halloween pictures and laugh and talk about that night all over again!
